Q: How much Personal Injury Protection (PIP) do you have? How much do you need?

A: Most people only purchase $3,000 worth of  PIP, which is the least expensive, BUT this amount is not enough - doctor and hospital bills these days are very expensive; thousands or hundred of thousands of dollars. Some families go into bankruptcy, because they cannot afford medical bills after an unexpected catastrophic accident.

Q: What is Dr. Bob’s office hours for emergency chiropractic care?

A: * For emergency chiropractic care please feel free to call Dr. Bob at (801) 230-0166 from 8am to 8pm seven days a week!

Q: Are there different amounts of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) that you can purchase for you and your family?

A: Yes. Just call your auto insurance agent and ask them how much it would cost you to have $5,000, $10,000, $25,000, $50,000, $100,000 worth of Personal Injury Protection. Six months of a $100,000 PIP may just cost $10 to $15 more a month. You’ll be glad that you did it!

Q: How much PIP do you need to purchase?

Answer 1. A patient that Dr. Bob had was involved in an auto accident. The patient was ambulanced to the local community hospital – cost $1300; two hours of emergency care, x-rays and CT Scans $3900 – total $5200. The initial $5,000 was exhausted in two hours.

Answer 2. Dr. Bob, holistic chiropractor in Salt Lake City, Utah, about three years ago was involved in a motorcycle accident in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was ambulanced to the local University Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah – cost $850; if he had to be air-flighted it would have cost about $1500 / mile. Then you have the costs for emergency care, for any pain injections or pain medications, for a team of trauma doctors, for x-rays, CT Scans or MRI’s. These costs could amount to over $7500. Then depending on the nature of your accident you may need rehabilitation and physical therapy proceeded by out-patient medical care and chiropractic care. You could easily be over $50,000. Your initial $3,000 of PIP doesn’t go too far!

Q: How much would it cost you for a $100,000 worth of Personal Injury Protection?

A: There are different factors involved, but it could only cost $10 to $15 more per month. Best to contact your auto insurance agent.

Q: Myth or Truth? Will your insurance premiums increase if you or a member of your family use your Personal Injury Protection?

A: These days with our current economy medical costs will keep on increasing, but if you receive the proper treatment for your auto accident immediately following your injury in the long term you or your family member will pay less in medical or chiropractic care, have an increased quality of life rather then not receive the medical or chiropractic care that you ought to have immediately following your injury. Immediately after a whiplash a child, teen, adolescent, adult ought to be examined by a chiropractor doctor.

Q: What are the disadvantages of not being treated immediately after a car accident?

A: Most people don’t feel pain after a car accident because they are in such trauma. Trauma may not subside until after 1-2-3-4 weeks! So it’s best to see your chiropractor right after the car accident to get checked. Whether a kid, teen, adolescent or adult is involved in a small or more serious auto accident, if the injury is not treated immediately afterwards there will be increased residual damage and degeneration to the joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons involved. The sooner that your child, teen, adolescent receives the proper healthcare the more healthy their future will be.

With so many variables being involved in your search for improved health, the chemicals, neurotransmitters & hormones in your body play a vital role in determining your health, well-being and state-of-mind. These chemicals of your nervous system not only affect your body’s structures (bones-ligaments-tendons-muscles), but they also affect the functioning of all your organs (brain, heart, liver, lungs, digestive, endocrine, excretory, respiratory, reproductive systems to name a few); your emotions (energy levels-libido-moods-feelings). If you are not satisfied with your quality of life, you ought to consider having these non-invasive lab tests performed. Some insurance companies do reimburse for these lab tests, but even if your insurance doesn’t cover these services please consider doing them for yourself.  There’s a lot of illness, disease and dying in our world. If we take the right action we can prolong and optimize our lives!

Q: How often does Dr. Bob Seiler, a holistic chiropractor in Salt Lake City, Utah, recommend having non-invasive lab work performed?
A: With the increased physical, emotional, chemical life stresses that bombard us from world economies & events, possibly from your work or being out of work, from your relationship (with money, finances, family issues), from the air that you breathe, from the chemicals on the food that you eat, from the herbicides, pesticides in the soil, from what animals are fed which produces your food, non-invasive lab tests ought to be done no less then every 9-12 months.

Q: Why ought non-invasive lab work be done no less than once a year?
A: Your body’s chemicals, neurotransmitters & hormones are changing daily from what you eat, drink, breathe and are exposed to. Disease and illness can develop in your body without you knowing it. The longer you wait to find out what your chemical levels are the longer it will take to restore those chemicals to their balanced and optimal levels. Q: Do you know the role of your nervous system with your health and well-being?
A: The nervous system serves as the central control mechanism for nearly every bodily process. The brain, through its trillions of connections to itself and all other organs, utilizes neurotransmitters and hormones as chemical messengers to maintain proper communications and thus, homeostasis with the body. Despite the critical functions that it governs, the nervous system is not impervious to disruption. Stress, infections, poor diet, toxins and genetics have a direct impact on the nervous system function, negatively affecting proper neurotransmission. Disruption of communication within the nervous system, due to deficient or excessive levels of various hormones and neurotransmitters, may lead to the manifestation of clinical complaints.

Q*1: Which Urinary Neurotransmitters can be used as Clinical Biomarkers that scientific literature suggests play a role in psychological and (somatic) body disorders?
Epinephrine is an excitatory neurotransmitter important for motivation, energy, metabolism, mental focus, and responses to stress. Studies have shown that epinephrine is associated with fatigue, hyperactivity, insomnia, weight management and attention issues (1,2,3).
Norepinephrine is an excitatory neurotransmitter important in mental focus, mood regulation, and the stress response. Studies suggest catecholamine levels are correlated with behavioral differences in ADD, the severity of PTSD symptoms, anxiety, fatigue, motivation and obesity (2,3).
Dopamine is an excitatory neurotransmitter. The literature shows that dopamine is involved in the pleasure/reward pathway, motor control, memory and mood. It may also be linked to hyperactivity, anxiety, addictions, cravings, and obsessive disorders (4,5).
DOPAC is a metabolite of dopamine. The combination of DOPAC and dopamine measurements can assist in the accessment of the activity of dopaminergic neurons. Studies have associated DOPAC imbalances with anorexia, untreated Parkinson’s disease, polycystic ovaries, and compulsive and addictive behaviors (6,7,8).
Serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter important for the regulation of mood, sleep, body temperature, and appetite. Literature has linked imbalances in serotonin with depression, migraines, hot flashes, anxiety, anger and insomnia (3,5).
5-HIAA is a metabolite of serotonin. The activity of serotonergic neurons in the brain can be examined through the assessment of serotonin and 5-HIAA levels. Imbalances in 5-HIAA have been associated with low mood, headaches, and intestinal issues. Imbalances may also be associated with sleep difficulties, cravings and urges (9,10,11).
Glycine is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the spinal cord. Like GABA, glycine has a calming effect. Imbalances in glycine are typically present in high stress situations and have been associated with anxiety and depression (12).
Taurine is both an inhibitory neurotransmitter and a neuromodulator. As a neuromodulator, taurine promotes the effects of GABA. Taurine has been shown to be neuroprotective and beneficial for heart function and imbalances have been associated with insomnia, anxiety and hyperactivity (13,14).
GAGA is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain and is important for regulating the activity of excitatory neurotransmission. Research has shown that GABA is a modulator of the stress response and is therefore, associated with complaints such as insomnia, anxiety and hyperactivity (15).
Glutamate is the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain and is important in learning, memory, cognition, mood and wakefulness. As such, it may be linked with focus and concentration and insomnia. Studies of pharmacological approaches targeting glutamate have concluded that glutamate is involved in many recurrent mood disorders (16).
PEA is an excitatory neurotransmitter important for attention, focus and mood. Imbalances in PEA may be associated with anxiety, insomnia and mood. Studies have found that PEA plays a role in hyperactivity and focus/concentration disorders (17).
Histamine is an excitatory neurotransmitter involved in the sleep/wake cycle and immune processes. A review of literature shows that histamine is involved in the presentation of insomnia, allergies and active infections and may be involved in cognitive functions and neuropsychiatric disorders (18).

Q*2: Which Neurotransmitters and Salivary Hormones can be used as Clinical Biomarkers which scientific literature suggests play a role in a number of psychological and somatic (body) disorders?

Cortisol is a primary glucocorticoid and regulator of the stress response. Sleep difficulties are frequently associated with the presence of stress. Elevated cortisol levels have been found in individuals suffering from chronic insomnia (1).
DHEA is produced by the adrenal gland and is a precursor to the estrogens and androgens. DHEA is also a stress responsive, with studies suggesting a protective mechanism against depression and anxiety. Salivary DHEA measurements are used as indicators of the stress response (2).
Epinephrine is an excitatory neurotransmitter important for motivation, energy, metabolism, mental focus, and responses to stress. Studies have shown that epinephrine is associated with fatigue, hyperactivity, insomnia, weight management and attention issues (5,6,7,8).
Norepinephrine is an excitatory neurotransmitter important in mental focus, mood regulation, and the stress response. Studies suggest catecholamine levels are correlated with behavioral differences in ADD, the severity of PTSD symptoms, anxiety, fatigue, motivation and obesity (7,8).
Dopamine is an excitatory neurotransmitter. The literature shows that dopamine is involved in the pleasure/reward pathway, motor control, memory and mood. It may also be linked to hyperactivity, anxiety, addictions, cravings, and obsessive disorders (3,4).
Serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter important for the regulation of mood, sleep, body temperature, and appetite. Literature has linked imbalances in serotonin with depression, migraines, hot flashes, anxiety, anger and insomnia (4,8).
GABA is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain and is important for regulating the activity of excitatory neurotransmission. Research has shown that GABA is a modulator of the stress response and is therefore, associated with complaints such as insomnia, anxiety and hyperactivity (9).
Glutamate is the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain and is important in learning, memory, cognition, mood and wakefulness. As such, it may be linked with focus and concentration and insomnia. Studies of pharmacological approaches targeting glutamate have concluded that glutamate is involved in many recurrent mood disorders (10).

PEA is an excitatory neurotransmitter important for attention, focus and mood. Imbalances in PEA may be associated with anxiety, insomnia and mood. Studies have found that PEA plays a role in hyperactivity and focus/concentration disorders(10).
Serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter important for the regulation of mood, sleep, body temperature, and appetite. Literature has linked imbalances in serotonin with depression, migraines, hot flashes, anxiety, anger and insomnia(7).

Chiropractor High School Sports

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Q: Can my child who plays sports in high school benefit from the holistic chiropractic care offered by Dr. Bob Seiler, Chiropractor in Salt Lake City, Utah?

Answer 1: Yes. Teens’ bodies are very vulnerable to the rigorous practices and physical contact from sports such as football, lacrosse, weight-lifting, track & field, running, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, hockey, swimming, gymnastics, fencing, baseball, softball, tennis, golf.  Spinal misalignments can occur after the repetitive impacts and motions of these sports.

Answer 2: All high school sports involve to varying degrees physical forces of compression & torque that affect joints, cartilage, muscles, tendons, ligaments of the body. The increased the physical forces of the sport the increased the likelihood of injury eventually leading to physical problems & surgeries. After a surgery that body part is never quite the same because it’s been cut.

Answer 3: Children’s bodies grow most rapidly during their elementary and high school years. With increased physical forces of gravity, compression & torque, forces of weight with shearing lead to increased back, neck and body injuries,. Most adults will experience low back pain, but the problems actually begin in those elementary & high school years. The pain is only felt later in life, because there is only 30% of pain cells in the body, which means that a problem has to develop more in order to be felt. As a result kids, teens, adults don’t get the problem treated soon enough, therefore, it takes longer to reduce the pain and longer to heal, Scoliosis (an irregular curvature of the spine) begins at early ages. A child in elementary school or high school can be sitting and leaning over their desks for months and years! Scoliosis is usually not felt, but can be seen on x-rays. X-rays can give you a picture of your child’s spine. If detected early enough scoliosis won’t have to be a major problem. And if x-rays are taken please have the x-rays taken from a chiropractor who is the only healthcare professional specifically trained for 3-4 years to interpret your child’s x-rays. Medical doctors or physical therapists are not trained to interpret x-rays as chiropractors are.

Q: Why do so many kids, teens, adolescents take over-the –counter (OTC) pills & pain relievers such as Advil, aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol or other toxic medications to lessen pain or injury in high school? Can a chiropractor provide more effective relief?

A: Dr. Seiler having attended various high school sports in Salt Lake City, Utah, sees coaches more interested in developing the skills of athletes in their sport. Most high schools don’t have coaches on the field or teachers in the classroom talking about spinal education, spinal health, natural healthcare or even mention chiropractic. More often the athlete is receiving a pain injection, a shot of cortisone, a pain medication, which can lead to drug dependencies and doesn’t help the cause of the problem; it just attempts to relieve the pain. See drbobseiler.com – Free Health & Wellness Talks at your school.

Q: If coaches and teachers aren’t mentioning chiropractic to their students and players, then where and how do kids learn to care for their bodies naturally?

A: From television. . drug and pharmaceutical companies have lots of money to spend on advertising and if kids are watching lots of television that’s what they think is best for them, but it’s not. Take a look at all the television commercials that there are for pain relievers; all the drugs / pills that are advertised for any health problem today. Many people seek remedies from pills and quick-fixes. But it’s through chiropractors that talk about natural healthcare, spinal adjustments, flexibility in our bodies & a healthy lifestyle and the value of a healthy nervous system, which gives life to our years and years to our lives. The chiropractic process is a natural process, and, therefore, requires some time to heal.

Chiropractors intensely study the nervous system and the body for four years in a chiropractic college. Chiropractic colleges teach that the nervous system is the most important system of the body, because it affects every function of the body. If the nervous system is functioning optimally so is the quality of life for that kid, teen, adult. That kid, teen, adult will experience less injury, less illness and less disease.

Q: As a holistic chiropractor in Salt Lake City what is unique about Dr. Bob’s chiropractic philosophy?

A: Dr. Bob Seiler, a chiropractor in Salt Lake City, Utah:

  • won’t have every patient receive three adjustments per week for years to come, which is common for many chiropractors,
  • won’t sell you or your family excessive amounts of nutritional supplements or herbs,
  • will offer you different holistic options for your chiropractic healthcare depending on the extent, longevity, severity of your health concern(s)
  • will take into consideration what kind of medical treatments or physical therapy that may not have previously worked for you or your family
  • provides the highest of personable and quality chiropractic services in Salt Lake City,
  • will offer you and your family three types of chiropractic care: Type 1) to lessen your pain or problem. Type 2) to lessen your pain and correct the problem that caused the health concerns. Type 3) to maintain your wellness so that the health concern that was relieved will continue to be corrected and managed over time. All of the different types of chiropractic care are all options for you, and the final decision is yours!
  • does not have every patient x-rayed
  • sees patients on weekday evenings and weekends; there is no waiting with multiple patients in the reception area. For an appointment you can call our office at (801-230-0166).
  • loves helping children, teens, adults in body-mind & spirit to help them empower themselves and to recommend natural ways to  improve their quality of living.
  • will listen to what you have to say

Q: What is the benefit of pediatric chiropractic care to adult chiropractic care?

A: Accidents and injuries are more easily correctable with children, teens, adolescents, because life patterns are less established. Adult patterns for better or for worse are more ingrained, and, therefore, it takes longer to make the needed changes and improvements. That’s how nature is.

Q: How would you know when it is a good time to schedule a chiropractic exam for your child, teen, adolescent?

A: If you’re not sure please call our office and tell us about your child’s condition. Dr. Bob can let you know over the phone if you ought to schedule an appointment for your child.  You don’t need to rely upon someone else’s suggestions or opinion, because they may not have had a good first chiropractic experience, they may not believe in chiropractic and they may not have seen the right chiropractor. Every chiropractor works differently. Other people may believe that pills are the answer to health problems.

Please feel free to call Dr. Bob Seiler, a holistic chiropractor in Salt Lake City, for your or your child’s first chiropractic exam. Come in and see what it’s like for yourself. Dr. Bob  guarantees that you’ll have a wonderful experience and be helped!

Whiplash: Holistic Chiropractor for Kids & Adults

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Salt Lake City Holistic Chiropractor for Kids & Adults Involving Whiplash Accidents

Q:  What are some of the benefits of chiropractic care immediately following a whiplash or personal injury?

A: The sustained injury heals sooner if you see a chiropractor immediately after an injury. The integrity of the joint heals more close to its pre-injured position, therefore, kids, teens, adolescents, adults with whiplash or personal injuries have less long term joint damage and degeneration and your child will be able to participate sooner and more competitively in their sport while reducing the likelihood of future surgery. Scheduling an appointment with Dr. Bob Seiler, in Salt Lake City,  immediately after a whiplash will help reduce the long term negative effects of injury. Going to an emergency room, having x-rays, CT scans, receiving some pain medications and being sent home after your told that there’s nothing wrong doesn’t heal your body!

Q:  What are some of the more common personal injuries that are reasons to schedule an appointment with Dr. Bob,  a holistic chiropractor in Salt Lake City, immediately  following  whiplash?

Answer 1:  Being a driver or passenger in a car and getting struck from the rear, side or front, or by you striking another vehicle or object (such as a guard rail, highway barrier, tree, deer, horse). These are the more common types of whiplash and they ought to be immediately checked by a chiropractor doctor even if the child or adult feels no pain.

Answer 2:  A kid, teen, adolescent, adult doesn’t have to have impact or be stricken to have a whiplash.  The child, teen, adult can experience a whip-like motion, or  sudden or twisting  movements  of the spine, body, neck; for example, slipping on black ice, grabbing or holding onto something to prevent yourself from falling on black ice; holding onto a car door or railing as you are falling; the whiplash-like movement of amusement rides.

Answer 3:  Suddenly  falling, crashing, whiplash-like motion from a bicycle, mountain-bike, scooter, moped, motorcycle, ATV;  a child falling out of a bed, down some steps, from the monkey-bars,  swings at the school playground,  from a trampoline in the backyard.

Answer 4:  Having a sport accident, falling, crashing, wiping-out  from skiing.snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sleigh-riding, tobogganing, ice-skating, rollerblading, skate-boarding, Answer 5:  Falling while horse-riding, mountain-climbing,

Q:  Why is it so important to receive a chiropractic examination immediately following a whiplash even if the child, teen, adolescent, adult  feels  no pain?

A:  Because the body only has 30% of pain cells, which means that an accident, injury, whiplash has to be of a higher magnitude in order for the child, teen, adolescent, adult to feel pain. Oftentimes, a child, teen or adult won’t feel pain, but that doesn’t mean that there is no compromise to the person’s body or mind. There is compromise, but it just isn’t felt. This is where the chiropractor is extensively trained for four years to examine and evaluate the body for whiplash and recommend natural health options without using pain drugs.

Q:  Does a child, teen, adolescent, adult  feel pain, headaches, back, neck, shoulder, arm, leg pain immediately following a whiplash or personal injury?

A: No.  It could be days or even weeks before a child, teen, adolescent, adult feels any symptoms after whiplash, because the body is still in a traumatized state!  Only after the trauma subsides can a child, teen, adolescent, adult actually feel pain or symptoms. That’s why it’s necessary not to evaluate one’s health or extent of injury on pain alone. It’s the importance of receiving a chiropractic exam from Dr. Bob, Salt Lake City, Utah, immediately after the slightest of whiplash or personal injuries.  Its’ also critical for parents not to base their child’s extent of whiplash or injury on their level of pain. Kids can have a high tolerance for physical contact, but each contact, impact, fall, accumulatively compromises the body.

Q:  Following a whiplash how would you decide whether to use the services of a hospital, medical doctor or Dr. Bob Seiler, a holistic chiropractor, in Salt Lake City?

A:  Depending on the magnitude of the whiplash or personal injury. Although it may be difficult to decide in a crisis situation is your insurance accepted at that particular hospital, medical doctor or chiropractor’s clinic? Or do you prefer to go to a hospital, medical doctor or chiropractic clinic whether your insurance is accepted there or not, which could provide increased consolation and security.

Q:  What kind of urgent or emergency care can you expect to receive from a hospital, medical doctor or chiropractor?

Answer 1:   About three years ago Dr. Seiler, a Chiropractor in Salt Lake City, Utah, was involved in a motorcycle accident with a car traveling at 35 mph. After colliding with the car Dr. Bob bounced on a canyon road for some 200’. Within 20 minutes he was ambulanced to the local Salt Lake City hospital where he received CT scans of his head and x-rays of any possibly fractured body part. In this case the hospital was the best place to be.nswer 2:  About six months ago Dr. Bob on his Ducati motorcycle slid-out from under some loose gravel. Fortunately, he only fractured his right clavicle (but was that painful)!. From his previous motorcycle accident in Answer 1 (above) he was able to ask himself  if it’s best to go the ER at the local Salt Lake City hospital, go to a Salt Lake City urgent care clinic or go home?  He considered the medical insurance that he had and wondered what would an ER in the hospital or an urgent care clinic do to help him and at what cost?  Hospitals are quite expensive and usually have long waiting times. What would a hospital do for possible fractured clavicle?  Take some x-rays,  give a pain injection and some pain medications for about $1500. He decided to go to the Salt Lake City urgent care clinic where he received x-rays, a pain injection and pain medications for $350. After a few days when the swelling decreased Dr. Seiler did physical therapy followed with chiropractic care. He took some pain meds as needed because the pain was excruciating, but immediately afterwards took nutritional supplementation to enhance maximum recovery.

Q:  What chiropractic techniques  does  Dr. Seiler, Chiropractor in Salt Lake City, Utah,  typically use to treat whiplash or personal  injuries?

A:  Dr. Bob uses  state-of-the-art chiropractic instrumentation,  gentleness of hands with chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy,  electrical muscle stimulation, laser and trigger point therapies, breath-work, nutritional supplementation and his patient experience for over 23 years,

Q:  Are there lots of kids, teens, adolescents, adults who don’t immediately receive the care that they need after whiplash or personal injuries?

A: Yes.  Even these days a lot of people don’t understand what  chiropractors do.  Many people think that chiropractors just treat low back pain, which is untrue. Chiropractors naturally treat the whole body, because chiropractors intensely study the nervous system of the body for four years and the nervous system is related to every function in the body! There are some parents who feel that kids are too young to hurt, to feel pain and go untreated after their whiplash. Not all chiropractors practice the same way. Dr. Bob offers a gentle approach to healing and helps parents understand the nature of their child’s  whiplash or injury, what chiropractic care can do to help and what consequences there can be without chiropractic care. Dr. Bob will help you, your child or teen have the best chiropractic experience that you’ve ever had.

Q: What are some of the consequences of delayed chiropractic treatments or untreated whiplash or personal injuries?

A: The child, teen, adolescent, adult will have increased physical limitations of that injured body area and that body area will be more prone to future injuries and potential surgeries. That untreated area won’t ever be quite the same. There will be increased degeneration of joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Body Mind Healing ~ Salt Lake City

A Holistic Approach Towards Healing

Dr. Bob’s training and education as a chiropractor uses the science, art & philosophy of chiropractic to assist the bodies’ innate healing functions and processes for children, teenagers and adults, and incorporates a body-mind-spirit approach towards health & healing.

With his hands-on experience for over 23 years in the healthcare field, Dr. Bob gently uses his hands, heart and intuition to locate what are called chiropractic vertebral sub-lux-a-tions (sub meaning less than and lux meaning light or position). So the chiropractic vertebral subluxation is having within your body a less than optimal functioning.

As a chiropractor Dr. Bob locates these vertebral sub-lux-a-tions, also known as nerve interference that exists within the individual’s body. After locating the vertebral subluxation Dr. Bob performs a gentle chiropractic adjustment (which doesn’t hurt). This chiropractic adjustment helps to manifest and restore a homeostasis and optimal functioning within your body & mind. An optimally functioning nervous system leads to optimal health & well-being!

Dr. Bob’s Holistic Chiropractic & Wellness serves as an adjunct for people participating in any mind-body process work, counseling or psychotherapy, because the chiropractic adjustment (the aspect of using gentle hands) assists in the natural healing processes of your body & mind. Oftentimes, just talking about personal issues in counseling or psychotherapy can be a  strenuous process.

Meet Dr. Bob & Scottish Golf

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Meet Dr. Bob…

Dr. Bob Seiler is not only extensively trained in chiropractic, he has followed his passions around the world. He is an avid golfer, having traveled to Scotland to experience the birthplace of golf ! He’s seen the exoticism of the Far East via Hong Kong, Taiwan and China as well as the antiquity of Europe. His out-of-the-ordinary lifestyle offers you a non-traditional approach to health and well-being. Feel free to call our office at (801) 230-0166.

Golf on the Hallowed-Grounds…
In the Spring of 2008 Dr. Bob took the ultimate golf trip and journeyed to Scotland,  where he played the Belleisle course in Ayrshire; Royal Troon where the Senior British Open was held in 2008. Then onto Old Prestwick where the first British Open took place in 1861; and then to Carnoustie’s Buddon & Burnside courses. At the Championship course Dr. Bob  challenged “Hogan’s Alley”, the Par 5, 6th hole. This is where Ben Hogan after he had recovered from his severe car accident, would drive his tee-shot over the out-of-bounds of the adjacent fairway of the 6th hole and then have his shot fade back into the 6th fairway. Ben Hogan did this in all four rounds in order to reach this Par 5 in two!

Playing golf in Scotland is an out of this world experience! The Scottish refer to these golf courses as “hallowed- grounds”, that is “sacred-grounds”. To be able to walk these courses as did the greats: Tom Morris, Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Tiger Woods. It’s indescribable! The fun part is that you reserve your tee-time a year in advance; when that day comes, you play in wind, rain or fair weather.

Dr. Bob also caddied for Orville Moody in 1970 where “Sarge” shot a 64 at The Dow Jones Open. But that’s another story…

Your First Visit & Methods of Payment

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Q:  How long will I have to wait for my first appointment?

A:  Dr. Bob usually sees most patients within 24 hours of their initial call. His office hours are flexible with morning, afternoon, some evenings and weekend appointments. You may call 801-230-0166 for your initial appointment or for emergency care including weekends.

Q: How long will my first and follow-up sessions last?

A: Initial treatments are about an hour. To better understand your health needs, Dr. Bob would like to know what hasn’t worked for you with previous physicians. If you have any previous lab work, blood work, urinalysis reports, x-rays, MRI’s, CT Scans, please bring them to your initial appointment. You are welcome to invite your partner or significant other to the initial consultation, which could help Dr. Bob better understand your patient history. Most chiropractors will have you come back on a second visit after taking x-rays to recommend to you a series of multiple treatments, which is more of a traditional chiropractic approach. Instead Dr. Bob works non-traditionally. There’s more to healing than just repeated chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Bob would prefer that you come in for a few holistic sessions, so that he can better understand the health connection between your body-mind-spirit. This will allow Dr. Bob, holistic chiropractor, Salt Lake City, Utah, to make the best health and wellness recommendations for your healing within the most realistic time-frame.Then it’s up to you to choose if you would like to begin this new process of living differently!

Follow-up visits are typically about 30 minutes depending on what is needed for your patient care. If what you have just read appeals to you, and if you are interested in partnering with a holistic chiropractor, and if you’re willing to make some lifestyle changes, then please call our office to schedule your initial new patient intake at  801-230-0166! If  we are unable to answer your call please leave a message which would be confidential and we will return your call as soon as we can.

Q:  Will Dr. Bob Seiler, holistic chiropractor in Salt Lake City, Utah, always give chiropractic adjustments?  I’ve heard about those “popping - cracking noises” and sometimes I feel uncomfortable with them?

A:  Dr. Bob Seiler’s holistic chiropractic philosophy is that the chiropractic adjustment may not be beneficial for everyone, and at times the chiropractic adjustment may not be advised. Dr. Bob Seiler, holistic chiropractor, Salt Lake City, Utah, will explain to you the benefits of the the chiropractic adjustment, and if the chiropractic adjustment can be comfortably received there will usually be a gentle release of pressure from the joints or vertebrae in your body. This release of energy of oxygen and nitrogen in the joint capsule usually leads to a soft and gentle popping sound which provides increased joint range of motion, blood flow, nerve energy, lymphatic system drainage to enhance the healing mechanisms within your body. If the chiropractic adjustment is given to the correct areas of your body with the correct and gentle force, then there will be gentle releases of energy. Again it’s up to you to find a gentle holistic chiropractor that blends with your physical and emotional chemistry.

Q:  What forms of payment does Dr. Bob accept?

A:  Dr. Bob accepts most major credit cards, personal check, cash, your auto insurance, selected medical / work injury related insurances, and out-of-network insurance benefits may apply. If you have insurance you may call your insurance company to verify your chiropractic coverage. If you call your insurance company please ask the following questions and write down their answers to bring to Dr. Bob’s office when you come in for your initial appointment. Ask the following questions: 1. Ask if you have chiropractic benefits? 2. What are your chiropractic benefits? 3. Do you have a deductible to be met and what is that deductible? 4. How much of the deductible has been met? 5. Have any of your chiropractic visits been used for this calendar year? 6. What is your calendar year? 7. Do you have a co-pay or co-insurance and how much is it? If you don’t have chiropractic insurance please call our office at 801-230-0166 to see how we can help you to allow you to receive holistic chiropractic care.

Holistic Chiropractic ~ A Healing Art

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Q: Do all chiropractors practice the same?

A:  No. Each chiropractor practices differently based upon the Chiropractic College attended and the chiropractor’s philosophy toward pain relief or healing. It’s most important that you work with a chiropractor whose chiropractic philosophy feels right for you so that healing can occur!

Q:  What is Dr. Bob’s  meaning of “Holistic Chiropractic & Wellness”?

A: Holistic Chiropractic & Wellness refers to the relationship of healing within the individual’s body which consists of the physical, chemical, emotional, and spiritual. Dr. Bob’s  Holistic Chiropractic & Wellness integrates these dimensions. Not many chiropractors practice this way!  Some chiropractors may claim to do holistic chiropractic but you may very surprised what you receive as holistic!

Q:  Does Dr. Bob refer his patients to other healthcare professionals?

A:  Sometimes a person needs to work with several healthcare professionals simultaneously to attain optimal Health and Wellness. When needed Dr. Bob may refer his patients to medical doctors, naturopathic & osteopathic physicians, neurologists, physical therapists, psychologists and licensed social workers in order to create a holistic healing integration.

Q: Who Can Benefit from “Holistic Chiropractic & Wellness”?

A:  For Children, Adolescents, Adults who are willing to believe that there is more to our health then just taking “pills”, or just receiving chiropractic adjustments! I’m sorry to disappoint you, but to be healthy & have a resiliency to pain, injury, illness & disease, you do need to do more then just receive chiropractic adjustments.

Q: What is the difference between the “Medical Model” and the “Wellness Model”?

A:  Dr. Bob’s  experience has been that most people wait until pain, injury and illness occurs, then people seek emergency help which is usually quite invasive, expensive and potentially devastating.  This is the Medical Model.

The Wellness Model is an alternative healthcare approach to Wellness which involves a person consistently taking care of themselves with good nutrition, proper exercise & sleep, routine lab work from your medical doctor/gynecologist, regular chiropractic care along with a positive attitude. Living this kind of lifestyle will help people resist pain, injury, illness, disease & improve quality of living!
